Funds so Limited!

CAPS United vice captain Limited Chikafa was having a time of his life the other Saturday at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex where Alick Macheso was belting out his baritone guitar.
Alcohol was free flowing, probably not least because Chikafa and Shooting Stars defender Tapfumaneyi Gweshe were in the company of a bevy of young looking ladies whom they spoiled throughout the whole night.
But three days later, Chikafa must have regretted his bingeing escapade when he arrived at Number 1 Wilfred Court, Fife Avenue – a place he called home – to find that he was suddenly homeless.
For, while the Makepekepe vice captain was busy plotting the downfall of Highlanders in last Saturday’s crunch tie at Rufaro Stadium, the messenger of court was hauling his property out of his lodgings at Wilfred Court into the street, and changing locks, in the presence of Chikafa's wife, Viola Roti.
Owner of the property, Ms. Betty Mayenda had, through her lawyers, Mutamangira and Associates, taken CAPS United to court seeking eviction of the tenant for defaulting payment.
CAPS United Football Club rented the flat on their player’s behalf.
Ms. Mayenda’s lawyer, Mr. Albert Chambati said her client had been irked by the fact that CAPS United were reneging from their earlier commitment to pay the monthly rent of $40 000 since December last year.
“In fact the defendant (CAPS United) was served with a notice to vacate the premises in September 2006 for the same reason,” said Mr. Chambati.
During that time, Zambian goalkeeper Evans Chewe occupied the property.
“But the notice lapsed in January without any reaction from CAPS United, so we had no choice but to seek redress from the courts.”
She won her case on the 16th of May resulting in Chikafa being locked out of the flat on Tuesday morning.
To add salt to injury, some of the United gunman's property was attached to the court until he or his employers met the court's costs and paid Ms Mayenda her dues.
Attached were a lounge suite, a colour television and a radio system. Chikafa has fourteen days to pay the $2 763 656 million together with the storage fees required by the court to recover his property, or it will be auctioned.
Neither Chikafa nor the CAPS United director of operations, Mr. Farai Jere were available for comment, with the former first choosing to mislead this reporter that he had sold his mobile phone before he decided not to respond to repeated subsequent calls.
Mr. Jere’s phone was not reachable at the time of writing.
